Do you have a waiting list?

Yes. Demand for places is very high and parents/carers are therefore advised to apply in advance. However, there may be space for the session you require at a shorter notice. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any enquiries.

How are staff vetted?

By law, an enhanced disclosure check is carried out on all our staff members prior to them starting in the centre. Prospective staff are also required to nominate 2 referees from whom a written reference will be obtained and rigorously checked. The majority of our staff are recruited locally and are therefore personally known to us which provides us with additional knowledge in our recruitment procedures.

What security measures are in place at the centre?

We have an entry phone system in place at the centre which is operated exclusively by our staff. Due to Covid-19 parents are encouraged not to enter the building, therefore management sign in and sign out each child when they enter and exit the setting. Children can be collected only by parents/carers that are nominated on their registration form, unless we are informed otherwise.

Do I need to bring lunch for my child?

Lunch time occurs between 11:45am and 1pm in the centre. All 3 and 4 year olds and eligible 2 year olds will receive a free lunch as part of their 1140 funded hours. Children that are not entitled to funding are required to provide their own lunch.

The centre also provides a healthy snack in the morning (9:45am) and afternoon (2:45pm). This includes a cup of milk or water, a selection of fruit and a snack e.g. toast or vegetable rice.

What else do I need to bring?

For younger children an adequate supply of nappies, wipes and cream are needed. Each child has their own tray for their belongings and staff will keep you updated when supplies are running low.

A change of clothes and soft indoor shoes are advisable. Uniform is available to order however this is not necessary. Children should attend in suitable clothing as we aim to access the outdoors daily e.g. warm jacket, wellies for winter and hat and sun-cream for summer.

A waterproof rain suit can be provided for children that do not have their own.

How do I find out what my child has been doing?

All our quality learning opportunities are based on the children’s current interests to ensure they get the best learning experience possible.

We have a private Facebook group for parents/carers to keep up to date with any changes, news, photos/videos of what the children have been doing and the learning opportunities that are available to them. Permission is required before any photos/videos are published.

Here at Little Learners we use Interactive Learning Diaries (ILD). All children and parents/carers are registered after they enrol with us. Only the parent/carer will be provided with a unique password to access their individual learning diary. You are able to share this with your family members if you wish to do so. This allows families to see photos and videos of the quality learning experiences that their child has engaged in. Families can access this online or via the app.
